ISF showed strength in Durgapur, took out a huge procession in Gemua
Jagran Correspondent, Durgapur: With the sound of assembly elections 2026, political temperature has started rising in the industrial city of Durgapur of West Bengal. Indian Secular Front (ISF) has increased its activism in Gemua area of Durgapur-Faridpur block. Many workers from the minority community, who carried the flag of Trinamool Congress for years, are now joining Naushad Siddiqui's party ISF. On Friday, ISF workers demonstrated strongly in Gemua. A large number of supporters took out a procession in the area, holding the party flag in their hands and raising slogans like Shirai-Shirai Rakto, Bhaijaan er Bhokto. Local ISF leader Sheikh Zaheeruddin, who participated in the protest, vented his anger against the state government. He said that we supported Didi and PC for years, thinking that they would stand with us, but today we are being intimidated on issues related to Waqf Board and land. The government only gives assurances but does not act. Our situation has become such that now doing ISF has become our compulsion. At the same time, another ISF supporter cornered the government regarding development works. He said that the bridges and roads which should have been built in the last 15 years were not built. This government also stopped the works approved during the time of Left Front. Today the youth do not have jobs, tomorrow there are no factories. Only fairs and games are being organized in the name of development, in which crores of rupees are being wasted. He said that ISF is not only a party of Muslims, but people of Hindu, tribal, Bauri and Ravidas communities are also joining it. BJP has attacked this activism of ISF. BJP district spokesperson Sumant Mandal described this demonstration of ISF as a bird coming at the time of voting. Sumant Mandal said that those who no longer have any existence in Trinamool Congress, whose livelihood has stopped there, are now roaming around carrying the flag of ISF. These are vote birds, who come at the time of elections and then fly away. They are not going to have any impact in this area.
