It Is Said That Millionaires Are Not Paying Taxes, Now Property Will Be Sealed From Tomorrow, Mohali Corporation Will Take Strict Action

The properties of property tax defaulters will be sealed without any additional notice.

Jagran correspondent, Mohali. The Municipal Corporation will now seal the properties of defaulters who have not deposited the outstanding property tax for a long time. Most of the defaulters are millionaires and owners of large commercial and industrial units. Strict action is now being taken against those who have not deposited the tax despite repeated notices and adequate time.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh said that sealing notices have been issued and defaulters have been given a final extension of three days. He said that from Wednesday, January 7, the properties of the defaulters will be sealed without any additional information.

Joint Commissioner Jasjit Singh said that till now four property owners have reached the office and got their assessment completed, while three property owners have deposited an amount of about Rs 7 lakh. The corporation has appreciated them.

Also warned that if the defaulters do not deposit the tax, then action like auction will be taken after sealing the properties. This strict step is being taken with the aim of ensuring the income of the Municipal Corporation and strengthening better urban infrastructure and citizen services.

This action will continue as per law until full recovery of the outstanding amount. Taxpayers can contact the Property Tax Branch, Municipal Corporation during office hours for any information or assistance.
