Jagran correspondent, Jalandhar. No party has got majority for the post of Chairman of Zilla Parishad. In such a situation, the focus will now be on the politics of manipulation. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab has the maximum number of 10 seats, but will have to depend on other political parties to gain majority. Either the members of other parties will have to break away or a compromise will have to be made with the Bahujan Samaj Party.
The equations have become such that it may be necessary for AAP to compromise with BSP. Out of 21 members, BSP has three members. If these three members support you then you will be in majority. The second path is made with the support of Congress and Akali Dal to BSP. Congress has eight votes including the MP vote and one vote is from Akali Dal.
Congress can also support BSP and Akali Dal can also support. If Congress wants to join hands with BSP to make him the Chairman, then without the votes of Akali Dal, the matter will not be resolved. A senior leader of Aam Aadmi Party says that many types of strategies are being discussed right now.
Impressed by your work, some members of other political parties may come together. Have not talked to other political parties yet, but some of their members are definitely impressed by your work. At the same time, Congress has also not opened its cards yet. A compromise is possible between Congress and BSP but still they are not able to reach majority.
No one can break by luring power: BSP
Senior leader of Bahujan Samaj Party, Balwinder Kumar says that all the party members who have won are following the ideology of the party. No political party can break them by luring them with power. The party chief is brainstorming on what paths are there for BSP. The leadership of the party is making the strategy.
Possibilities regarding Zilla Parishad Chairman
Total seats 21, 22 votes including MP's vote, 12 votes required for majority.
Complete majority in six block committees, alliance necessary in five
In the results of block committee elections, political parties have got absolute majority in six blocks, but no single political party has got majority in five blocks. AAP party has got majority in Adampur, Bhogpur, Jalandhar Cantt and Kartarpur, while Congress is becoming the chairman in Mahitpur and Shahkot.
In the remaining five blocks, the chairman will be made by the alliance itself. BSP has nine out of total 20 seats in Phillaur. Things can be done with the support of three members of Congress. Out of 15 in Roorka Kalan, four are Akali Dal and four are Azad.
AAP has three members and Congress and BSP have two members each. Out of 15 seats in Lohian, Congress has six and Akali Dal has five. Congress has a chance with the votes of one Azad and one MLA. Out of 15 members in Nurmahal, there are five members of Congress and four members of BSP and here also a BSP-Congress alliance is visible.
Of the 20 members in Nakodar, Congress has eight, AAP seven, BSP two and Azad two. You will also get the MLA's vote. In such a situation, AAP has 10 seats out of 20 including two Azad MLAs and Congress-BSP are also stuck on 10 only. Here the only solution will be to create havoc in other political parties.
