BJP state president Babulal Marandi has termed the ongoing ACB investigation into the liquor scam as a cover-up and has demanded a CBI investigation.
State Bureau, Ranchi. BJP State President and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi today termed the ongoing ACB investigation into the liquor scam as a whitewash and demanded a CBI investigation. While addressing a press conference at the BJP state office on Thursday, Babulal Marandi said that ACB investigation is going on in the liquor scam and the then Excise Secretary Vinay Choubey is in jail in this case.
Almost identical statements are being published in the media during the interrogation of Excise Commissioners Amit Kumar, Karna Satyarthi and Faiz Ahmed in the ACB investigation. Amit Kumar said that whatever Vinay Choubey wanted happened, Karna Satyarthi said that Vinay Choubey had refused to register a case in the matter.
Such statements are not ordinary but point towards big and serious corruption. All those whose statements were discussed are IAS officers. The former commissioners who have been interrogated are posted on important posts like Deputy Commissioner in all the districts. If the Secretary was putting pressure on them and getting them to work against the rules, I would have taken note and met the Chief Secretary and the Chief Minister and complained.
It is said that the liquor vendors are being asked to provide benefits to their favourites. It was evident from the statements of these people that they were speaking like rote parrots. These people are instructed to speak the same in the court also.
On one hand, such officers work against the rules under pressure, on the other hand, they have also been entrusted with important responsibilities. Such people should be removed. Marandi said that he had written a letter to the Chief Minister warning him about a possible liquor scam in the year 2022 itself. Now ACB people are dramatizing the investigation. ACB DGP himself is accused of corruption.
