Jharkhand Nagar Nikay Chunav: Elections for 48 municipal bodies are to be held in Jharkhand on 23 February. These elections are not on party basis, still the parties vote for their supported candidates.

Political excitement increased regarding municipal elections in Jharkhand.

Jagran correspondent, Dhanbad. Municipal elections are taking place in Jharkhand. Under this, voting is on 23 February in 48 municipal bodies of the state. This election is not being held on party basis. Despite this, all the parties have announced the names of the candidates and announced their support. However, in many areas, many candidates are contesting elections defying the party's orders. In such a situation the party is taking action.

Dhanbad District Congress Committee District President Santosh Singh has issued clear and strict instructions after an important party meeting. He said that in the current electoral environment, the unity, discipline and organizational commitment of the party is of paramount importance, and any laxity in this will not be tolerated.

Singh clarified that if any Congress official or worker is found working in opposition to the Congress supported candidate, or is found involved in promoting, supporting or any kind of anti-party activities for the candidate supported by any other party, then strict disciplinary action will be taken against him as per the constitution of the party.

The District President said that the Congress Party is a party of ideology, struggle and democratic values. Those who weaken the party, spread factionalism or disregard organizational decisions for personal gain will not be spared under any circumstances. Such activities not only harm the party but also break the morale of the workers.

The District President called upon all the office bearers, block presidents, front-cell officials and Congress workers to work unitedly in favor of the party supported candidate Shamsher Alam and to take the policies and public welfare programs of the Congress to the general public. The party is keeping an eye on every activity, and will not shy away from taking action like show cause notice, removal from the post or expulsion, if necessary.

A dozen leaders suspended

Till Thursday, a dozen rebel Congress candidates have been suspended by the officials of the respective districts. Before this, show cause notices were given to all of them.

Among the leaders to be suspended are two candidates from Giridih, Pankaj Sagar and Jugeshwar Mahatha. Rebel candidate Sultan Ahmed of Bokaro-based Chas Municipal Corporation, Zeba Khan of Mango Municipal Corporation (East Singhbhum), Baby Paswan of Mihijam Municipal Council (Jamtara), Rajveer from Chatra Municipal Council, Mohd. Irfan from Kapali Municipal Council (Seraikela Kharsawan), Jyoti Kujur and Jasmine Lugoon from Gumla Municipal Council, Pushpa Kullu from Simdega Municipal Council, Chakradharpur Municipal Council. (P.Singhbhum) candidate Bijay Sambrui and Md.Salim of Chaibasa Municipal Council (P.Singhbhum) have been suspended from the party. State Congress General Secretary Rakesh Sinha has confirmed this.
