Revenue of Rs 1412 crore was received in three months.
State Bureau, Ranchi. As soon as the retail sale of liquor goes into private hands in Jharkhand, the department has started rapidly chasing the revenue target. The Excise and Prohibition Department is achieving the monthly revenue target by more than 100 percent.
Now it is expected that the excise department will achieve the revenue target of Rs 3885.11 crore set by March 31 in the current financial year. Because of this, people are getting the liquor of their choice, due to which sales are also increasing in abundance.
The new product policy has come into effect from September 1, 2025, in the current financial year 2025-26. From April 1, 2025 to August 31, 2025, retail sale of liquor took place through Jharkhand State Beverages Corporation Limited (JSBCL).
During this period, the Excise and Prohibition Department had set a revenue target of Rs 2271 crore, but JSBCL could meet the revenue target of only Rs 1933 crore.
Similarly, when the retail sale of liquor went into private hands from September 1, the department started racing to meet the revenue target. The excise department chased a revenue target of Rs 1338 crore from September 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
Revenue of Rs 1412 crore was achieved during this period. That means about Rs 73 crore more than the revenue target. This is 105 percent achievement of the target.
People drank 3.99 crore bulk liters of liquor in nine months
According to the data of the excise department, 3.99 crore bulk liters of liquor has been sold in Jharkhand in nine months. This figure is from April 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025 i.e. for nine months.
If we look at the data of five years, 2.28 crore bulk liters of liquor has been consumed in the financial year 2020-21, 2.72 crore in 2021-22, 2.56 crore in 2022-23, 4.03 crore in 2023-24 and 5.01 crore bulk liters in the financial year 2024-25.
If we look at the consumption of foreign liquor, in the current financial year from April 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025, i.e. in nine months, the consumption of foreign liquor has been 1.79 crore LPL. The sales figure of foreign liquor has crossed two crore liters in the financial years 2022-23 and 2024-25.
