Jagran correspondent, Kanpur. Kanpur Metro has received the prestigious award of the Ministry of Energy at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on National Energy Conservation Day on Sunday. In the presence of President Draupadi Murmu, Union Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar gave the Certificate of Merit to Sushil Kumar, MD of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC).
National Energy Conservation Award is given by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power. Earlier in the year 2019 and 2021, UPMRC's Lucknow Metro has been awarded the first prize and Certificate of Merit in the Metro Railway Sector.
UPMRC Managing Director Sushil Kumar said that Uttar Pradesh Metro has so far reduced energy consumption by about 39 percent through various efforts, thereby saving about 70 lakh units of electricity every year.
