A fake Income Tax officer has been arrested in Delhi. symbolic picture

The Crime Branch has arrested an absconding accused in the case of robbery at a jeweler's shop and theft of more than one kilogram of gold jewelery by posing as an Income Tax Department officer in Prasad Nagar. This incident was carried out by five miscreants, one of whom was wearing police uniform. Based on his information, the police have recovered 130.162 grams of gold jewelery and the Pulsar motorcycle used in the crime.
According to DCP Vikram Singh, the arrested accused has been identified as Sheikh Akram. He is a resident of DDA flats in Madangir, Ambedkar Nagar. On the evening of 27th November, a complaint of robbery was received in a jewelery shop in Karol Bagh area at Prasad Nagar police station.
The complainant said that five miscreants entered his shop, one of whom was wearing Delhi Police uniform and the remaining four were in plain clothes. He had come as an officer of the Income Tax Department.
The miscreants snatched the mobile phones of the complainant and his employees and searched the shop. After some time, they looted more than one kilogram of gold jewelery and fled. Before absconding, the miscreants also took away the DVR of the CCTV camera installed in the workshop. On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered at Prasad Nagar police station and after investigation, five miscreants involved in the crime and conspiracy were arrested. A criminal Sheikh Akram was absconding.
Central Range, Crime Branch last week received information about the activities of Sheikh Akram, who was constantly changing locations in South Delhi area after the arrest of his associates. Based on this information, a police team led by ACP Rajbir Malik and Inspector Sunil Kumar Kalkhande arrested Sheikh Akram from CR Park. Based on his information, the looted gold and the motorcycle used in the crime were recovered.
Sheikh Akram has worked in many jewelery making shops in Karol Bagh area. He currently worked in a jewelery making shop and lived with his family in Madangir. Three years ago, he came in contact with Parminder, the main accused in this incident, government employee and mastermind.
After this Sheikh Akram gave information about the jewelery shops of Karol Bagh area. After this, Parminder along with his other associates planned the crime to earn easy money and then carried out the robbery.
