Communication Assistant, Koderma. The exercise to form the city government started on Wednesday. The voting process started at 7 am in the 114 polling stations of the district, which will continue till 5 pm.
Since morning, urban voters started reaching their respective polling stations and stood in queues, waiting for their turn to exercise their franchise. Today, voting is being held for the three bodies of the district, Jhumritilaiya Municipal Council, Koderma Nagar Panchayat and Domchanch Nagar Panchayat.
A total of 36 candidates are in the fray for the post of President, while 263 candidates are trying their luck in 57 wards. There was a lot of enthusiasm among the voters regarding the elections.
Even before the start of voting, long queues of voters had formed at three polling stations of ward number seven located in the Labor Welfare Complex of Jhumri Tilaiya Municipal Council area.
Young, elderly and women, all categories of voters came to participate in the democratic process. After voting, people expressed their faith in democracy by showing the indelible ink mark on their fingers.
Special enthusiasm was seen among women. Despite it being the holy month of Ramzan, she left her household chores behind and reached the polling booth first.
The women said that they want to elect a representative who will give priority to the development of the city and strengthen the basic facilities.
Strict arrangements have been made by the administration for peaceful and fair voting. The voting process is going on smoothly amid the deployment of security forces.
