Jagran correspondent, Kotdwar. Amidst the controversy over changing the name of the shop in Kotdwar, political parties have started baking their bread. There may be peace in the area, but it remains a big challenge for the police to stop people coming from outside areas to seek political ground.

On Thursday, the police and administration were left holding their breath regarding the proposed visit of Chandrashekhar Azad, MP from Nagina Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh and Chief of Bhim Army, to Kotdwar. When the MPs did not come after a long wait, the administration heaved a sigh of relief.

Let us tell you that on January 26, there was a dispute between Bajrang Dal workers and supporters of the shop owner regarding changing the name of a shop in Patel Marg.

During this time, gym operator Deepak Kumar in Kotdwar, calling himself Mohammad Deepak, appealed to maintain peace. The matter calmed down here.

On Saturday, a large number of workers from outside areas reached Kotdwar and demonstrated. The protesters also tried to enter Deepak Kumar's gym. The police deployed on the spot somehow pacified the matter.

Since then the internet media has been in constant heat. Also, now political parties have also started exploring possibilities in this matter for the 2027 elections. As a result, people associated with various organizations and political parties are reaching Kotdwar and talking to Deepak Kumar.

With the increase in the movement of outsiders in the area, the communal atmosphere is also being affected by the unrestrained posts being made in the internet media. In such a situation, the police is trying to stop outsiders coming towards the city at the border itself.

On Wednesday, the administration received information that MP from Nagina Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh and Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad would reach Kotdwar on Thursday in this matter, after which the police was alerted.

Along with various police stations of Pauri district, forces from Haridwar were also called to Kotdwar and an additional battalion of PAC also reached Kotdwar. Overnight, a large number of forces were deployed by barricading Kaudiya Check Post and Delhi Farm Check Post.

SSP Sarvesh Panwar also took charge in the area. The effort was to send the MP back from the border itself. The police kept waiting for the arrival of the MP the whole day, but the MP did not come, after which the police heaved a sigh of relief.
