Digital Desk, New Delhi. The health of 89 year old Vinod Kumar Shukla, renowned Hindi litterateur and Jnanpith awardee, remains extremely critical. He has been admitted to the Critical Care Unit of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the capital, where he is on ventilator.
The literary world and his fans are praying for his speedy recovery. According to AIIMS management, Shukla, admitted since December 2, is suffering from serious respiratory disease. He suffers from interstitial lung disease (IAD) and currently has severe pneumonia.
He also has problems like type-2 diabetes and high blood pressure, which are hindering his recovery. Doctors have described his condition as extremely serious.
