Jagran correspondent, Lucknow. The process of converting the Inspection and Certification Center (I&C) located at Transport Nagar into Automatic Testing Center ATS has been expedited. The survey has been conducted by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) by sending a team of International Center for Automotive Technology (I-CAT).
Its report is expected on Monday. Accordingly, the process of upgrading the machines will be completed. Transport Nagar's I&C is closed since November 15, the center is locked due to stopping of slots for fitness of new vehicles. Vehicles are now getting the slot of AKRS ATS Pvt Ltd Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) Centre.
Angered by the closure of the centre, the transporters had submitted several memorandums from the RTO office to the Transport Commissioner. The reason for the displeasure among the vehicle owners was that due to single lane in BKT, most of the vehicles are not being tested for fitness, whereas in Transport Nagar, 200 vehicles are being tested every day. Most commercial vehicles require fitness every year.
RTO administration Sanjay Kumar Tiwari had sent the proposal to operate I&C Transport Nagar as ATS to the transport headquarters. Transport Commissioner Kinjal Singh had requested Morth on December 5 to form an I-CAT team and conduct a survey of the site.
Most of the machines of I&C are automated and by surveying them through I-CAT, other arrangements required as per ATS will also be completed. It is noteworthy that Morth had given the opportunity to operate the Ghaziabad center as ATS on the request of the Transport Department.
RTO administration Tiwari said, the I-CAT team has completed the survey of I&C Transport Nagar in two days from Friday to Saturday. It is possible that its report will be released on Monday, it will contain details of the expenditure as well as the upgrading of the machines. Now I&C will be prepared and run as per ATS.
