Major fire in plastic factory located in Patna Bypass

Jagran correspondent, Patna City (Patna). A massive fire broke out at around 5 am on Saturday morning in a plastic factory running on the roof of a two-storey building located next to Pappu Dhaba near NH-30 in Karamlichak of Bypass police station area. The plume of black smoke rising from the burning of plastic material was visible from a long distance, due to which the people nearby came to know about the incident.

As soon as the information was received, about a dozen fire vehicles from Patna City and Kankarbagh Fire Station reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire. The fire had spread to such a huge extent on the second and third floors of the factory, in view of which hydraulic fire brigade was also called from Patna. Along with the firefighters, local people were also seen cooperating in extinguishing the fire.

Milan Family Dhaba is located next to the building where the fire broke out. Due to timely efforts to control the fire, major damage to the surrounding buildings was saved. However, the fire spread rapidly due to burning of plastic raw materials and finished goods present in the factory.

After receiving information about the incident, Sub-Divisional Officer Satyam Sahay also reached the spot. He said that in the initial investigation the cause of the fire is believed to be short circuit. There is no information about any casualty in this accident. After the fire is completely extinguished, further action will be taken after assessing the damage.

Himanshu Raj, owner of Pappu Dhaba, told that a plastic factory named ‘Vishwakarma Industries’ was operating in the adjacent building for years. Here chairs and other household items were made from plastic granules. Flames rose from the second floor, destroying much of the factory.

According to local people, about 10 to 12 workers were working in the factory, who came out safely in time. There has also been damage due to the fire reaching the first floor and ground floor.

Fire officer Gayanand Singh present on the spot said that about 80 percent of the fire has been controlled and the work of completely extinguishing it is going on. He said that the exact assessment of the damage caused by the fire can be done only after the fire is extinguished.
