Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. The appearance of Bhagalpur station is about to change. The station is undergoing rejuvenation, which includes widening of platforms, widening of foot over bridge (FOB) stairs, modernization of yard and installation of modern technology. This work will start after Holi. For this, Rs 50 crore has been allocated for the development of Bhagalpur station in the Union Budget. With the approval of the amount, the team of railway officials has taken steps towards implementing the project expeditiously.

Route relay system will be installed at Bhagalpur station, under which trains will be operated from a single panel. Yard modernization will involve electronic interlocking and installation of centralized panels. The station will be modernized like Howrah and Sealdah stations. This will facilitate the Station Master to take the decision of taking the train on the platform and shunting the train in the yard alone. In the old system, there was a problem in timing and line change due to coordination between the two cabins and panels, which the new system will eliminate.

Under this project, the length of platform numbers two and three will be increased to accommodate 22 coach trains. The steps of the foot over bridge will be widened and the length of the platform will be increased by six-seven meters for the safety of passengers. The length of platform number four will also be increased by about 10 meters. The line will be straightened by removing old points, so that trains will be able to reach the platform at a faster speed.

The drainage system in the yard premises will be modernized so that there is no problem of water logging during the rainy season. Along with this, three new level crossing (LC) gates will be installed for smooth movement of locomotive engines and safety of operation. According to officials, a third line is also to be built from Barharwa to Bhagalpur, which will make railway operations faster and safer.

"Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned for development. The works will gain momentum after Holi."
