Jagran correspondent, East Delhi. To give a new impetus to the development of the trans-Yamuna region, home to almost one-third of Delhi's population, development projects worth Rs 728 crore were approved in the first meeting of the Trans-Yamuna Area Development Board.

In the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the Delhi Secretariat, many important proposals related to roads, drainage, waterlogging, basic amenities and public infrastructure were passed. The Chief Minister said that the development of Trans-Yamuna region is his priority and there will be no shortage of funds for it.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra, Trans-Yamuna Development Board Chairman and MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely and other members of the board were present in the meeting. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the development of the Trans-Yamuna region is one of the top priorities of the government.

The government aims to develop the trans-Yamuna region to such an extent that people here do not feel neglected and get better infrastructure facilities like other parts of Delhi.

The Chief Minister said that the people of the trans-Yamuna region were suffering due to the inaction of the Board in the last few years. Bad roads, waterlogging, poor drainage systems and traffic jams had become daily problems for the people. He directed the officials to solve the problems of roads, drainage and waterlogging on priority basis to provide relief to the people before the coming monsoon.

Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra said the Chief Minister's decision to reactivate the board is historic for the trans-Yamuna region. For a long time the Trans-Yamuna region was facing injustice in terms of development, but now this imbalance will be corrected.

Trans-Yamuna Development Board Chairman Arvinder Singh Lovely said that this year all the main roads of the area will be constructed and rebuilt first. All the main roads of Geeta Colony, Trilokpuri and Rohtash Nagar are in very bad condition for a long time.

Repairing these roads will not only ease the traffic but will also stop the dust from the broken roads, which will reduce pollution. Along with this, construction of drains and repair of damaged drains are also among his priorities. Along with this, the budget for beautification of Welcome Lake has also been passed. The work of improving it will start soon.
