SP and Congress are again seen standing in front of BJP as alliance partners.
Jitendra Sharma, New Delhi. BSP chief Mayawati may have said in clear words that she will contest the 2027 assembly elections alone, but under the shadow of the condition that she has attached regarding future alliance, the possibilities of a united opposition will continue to breathe for 2027 only.
Apart from Mayawati's statement, the open invitation of Congress to join INDIA and the sharp attack of arch rival BSP, the soft stance of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is still indicating to make way for the 'elephant', so that the option of laying strategic backgammon of socio-caste mobilization against BJP can emerge.
Possibilities got wind from Congress camp
In the current scenario in Uttar Pradesh, SP and Congress are again seen standing in front of BJP as alliance partners for the next assembly elections. But the possibility of bringing BSP along in this alliance was first raised from the Congress camp itself. Party's national general secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Avinash Pandey openly said that possibilities remain in politics.
Mayawati may be talking about fighting alone, but the doors are open for BSP in INDIA. Meanwhile, on the occasion of her birthday recently, BSP chief Mayawati indirectly expressed her principled agreement with the major issues of INDIA i.e. SP and Congress by lightly discussing EVMs and SIR.
It is appropriate for BSP to contest elections alone.
Then with all kinds of allegations against Congress, SP and BJP, he said that BSP does not get the benefit of alliance, hence it is appropriate to contest the elections alone. But, she also added that if she is confident that any party can transfer the votes of the upper community to BSP, then she can form an alliance with it in future.
This signal is being linked to Congress, because it is not easy for SP to cultivate upper caste votes. A senior Congress leader argues that the upper caste angry with the BJP has no problem in joining the Congress. Muslims and Dalits are also comfortable here. Congress can try to give this assurance to Mayawati. At the same time, on the question of rift with SP, he said that there was a situation of political enmity between SP and BSP regarding the guest house scandal, but both came together in 2019 to save their respective existence.
By reminding them of the guest house incident, on one hand Mayawati wants to keep Dalit voters engaged and on the other hand she wants to keep SP under pressure. Interestingly, despite the sharp attack from the BSP chief, the way Akhilesh expressed concern about the short circuit spark in Mayawati's press conference, it can be understood that he wants to maintain a soft stance.
