Meerut Was The Coldest In UP, Minimum Temperature 4.1 Degrees Celsius Recorded, No Relief From Cold Till This Date

Jagran correspondent, Meerut. The intensity of cold is increasing. Sunday morning in Meerut was the coldest of the season. Meerut was the coldest city in the state. The minimum temperature recorded here was 4.1 degrees Celsius. The bone-chilling icy wind in the morning as well as in the evening made people uneasy.

Even after the sun was shining during the day, the wind kept forcing one to chill. Earlier on Friday, a minimum temperature of 4.3 degrees Celsius was recorded. At present there is no sign of relief from the cold till January 15.

After the passing of the western disturbance, cold air is coming towards the plains through the snowy peaks. The minimum temperatures in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad near Meerut were also 4.4 and 4.8 degrees Celsius respectively.

In the morning, until the sun came up, the wind kept numbing the body. The cold north-west wind blowing at a speed of four to eight kilometers per hour was making people feel as if they were at a hill station. People going out for work were seen trembling. The sunshine definitely brought a feeling of relief in the afternoon.

After evening the cold continued to shiver again. Despite being a holiday due to cold, most people did not come out of their homes. There was silence in markets like Sadar, Begumpul, Central Market at seven in the evening.

A significant drop in night temperature has been recorded for the last three days. Improvement was also seen in air quality, AQI was measured at 216 at 4 pm. Dr. UP Shahi, in-charge of the weather center of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Agricultural University, said that there is a possibility of frost. Farmers should do light irrigation of crops.
