MMUT Student's Jaw Broken Into Five Pieces, Joined By Successful Operation At Gorakhpur AIIMS

Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. The jaw of the first year B.Tech student of Madan Mohan Malviya Technological University, who was injured in the attack by his partner, was broken into five pieces. 20 stitches were required to repair the head injuries.

19-year-old Shivansh Pandey, resident of village Babhani Hethar of Manda under Yamunanagar police station of Prayagraj district, and Ashish Kumar, resident of Srinagar under Phulbehad police station of Lakhimpur Kheri district, are first year students of B.Tech Computer Science at the University of Technology.

Both live in hostel room number G-24. Shivansh Pandey told that on the night of January 2, at around 2:30 am, he had slept on his bed after studying. During this time, Ashish hit him on the head several times with a brick. Hearing the scream, nearby students reached the spot and immediately helped. Shivansh is undergoing treatment in AIIMS. He suffered serious injuries on his face, jaw and head. The operation lasted for three hours. Dr. Shailesh Kumar, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Assistant Professor of the Department of Dentistry, operated the student with the help of the anesthesia team. In this complex operation that lasted for more than three hours, the broken jaw and facial bones were successfully joined with the help of screws and plates. Also, more than 20 stitches were applied to repair the head wounds. Dr. Srinivas of the Dental Department congratulated the entire medical team on the successful operation.

Here were those involved in the operation: Senior Resident of Dentistry Department, Dr. Praveen Kumar and Junior Residents Dr. Priyanka, Dr. Sumit and Dr. Saurabh were involved in the operation. Anesthesia services were provided by Dr. Santosh Sharma, Head of the Department of Anesthesia, Additional Professor Dr. Bhupinder Singh and Associate Professor Dr. Seema. Nursing officers Pankaj Devi and Pratibha also had important contribution in the operation.

The engineering student's jaw was broken into five pieces. There was a lot of head injury also. The immediate operation was carried out under the guidance of the Executive Director. Now the student is recovering rapidly.
