During this, he will flag off the country's first sleeper Vande Bharat Express running between Howrah and Kamakhya. This train will give new strength to the rail connectivity between the North-Eastern states and Bengal.
In view of the arrival of the Prime Minister, preparations are in full swing around Malda Town Station. Construction of public meeting stage is going on at a rapid pace in Old Malda Bypass area. Here the structure is being prepared from iron and wood. A temporary helipad is being built at Laxman Sen Stadium of Railways near Malda Town Station.
PM Modi will reach at 2 o'clock
According to sources, the Prime Minister will reach here by helicopter at around 2 pm. After this we will go to Malda Town Station by road. Before that, big railway officials are continuously visiting here. Many top officials have reached here.
Manish Kumar Gupta, GM of Eastern Railway Malda Division, has confirmed that on January 17, the Prime Minister will visit Malda and launch the sleeper Vande Bharat. The Prime Minister will not only flag off, but will also travel in this train from Malda Town to New Farakka. During this period, 30 school children will also travel with him in the train. These children will be specially selected.
