She was adamant on marrying her lover in front of her husband in the police station itself. When she did not agree even after explaining, the husband handed the woman over to her lover and told her to stay with him from now on. Both of them became friends through Facebook. Erasers were distributed before leaving the Kotwali. 23-year-old Soni, a resident of Pinna village of Muzaffarnagar, was married three years ago to Piru of Jadauda Jat village of Deoband, Saharanpur. He has two children. The woman is from Scheduled Caste. About a year ago, the woman had become friends with 21-year-old Harish of Kashyap community of Agarwal Mandi Tattiri of Baghpat Kotwali through Facebook.

Both of them started calling on mobile. The love affair grew so much that the woman left her husband and children and went to her lover's house three times and insisted on living together. Harish's relatives sent him back every time after persuasion. Even after this, their conversation continued on mobile.

On Tuesday morning, the woman Soni once again traveled by train and reached her lover's house, saying that she would not go back now. After some time, the woman's husband Piru and her parents reached there. There was a lot of bickering between them. Piru called the police.

The police took the woman's lover Harish to the police station. The woman also reached there and was adamant on marrying her lover. The woman's husband and other people reached the police station. The women of the young man's family also reached. The police spent hours trying to reconcile them, but the woman and her lover remained adamant on living together.

After this, husband Piru handed over his wife to her lover, saying that now she will live with him only. Saying this, the woman's husband and others returned home. After this, the young man's relatives celebrated by feeding sweets to each other in the police station itself.

Both of them expressed their desire to live together and gave it to the police in writing. After this the police let him go as per his wish. Late in the evening both of them got married in the temple of the town itself. Kotwali in-charge Brijesh Kumar says that the married woman had befriended the young man on Facebook, both of them want to live together. After writing this, he gave it to the police and went away.
