With the aim of providing additional nutrition along with mid-day meal to the children in council schools, funds for the month of February have been released for feeding Gajak and Chikki. Although the teachers faced problems due to non-receipt of funds in the month of January, but now with the release of funds for February, the system seems to be back on track.
The government has released funds for the month of February to provide Gajak and Chikki as nutritious food to children in schools. Under the scheme of feeding Gajak and Chikki every Thursday at the rate of Rs 5 per child, a total of Rs 19 crore 58 lakh has been released for the entire state. With this, additional nutrition can be provided to children on four Thursdays in the month of February.
The funds were made available on time
The funds for the month of December were made available on time, but no funds were released in January. Although the schools remained closed for about 15 days in January due to winter vacations, despite this children were fed Gajak and Chikki on two Thursdays, the amount for which has not been received yet.
Now the teachers have definitely got some relief after receiving the amount for February, but there is still a wait for the amount for the month of March. If we look at the funds received by the districts, Hardoi has received Rs 43.54 lakh for four Thursdays, while Rs 22.82 lakh has been released to Lucknow.

In other districts of Awadh region, Ambedkar Nagar 16.25 lakh, Amethi 20.54 lakh, Ayodhya 22.88 lakh, Bahraich 61.28 lakh, Balrampur 30.57 lakh, Gonda 40.46 lakh, Kheri 66.87 lakh, Rae Bareli 26.60 lakh, Shravasti 20.41 lakh. Lakh, Sitapur has received Rs 67.20 lakh and Sultanpur has received Rs 31 lakh.

District Basic Education Officer Dr. Ajit Singh said that funds for Gajak and Chikki are released on time every month and no school will face any problem. He said that special care is being taken for the nutrition of children and the scheme will be operated smoothly.
