Jagran correspondent, Moradabad. The construction work of Pandit Nagla Bypass Railway Overbridge (ROB), which is being built to provide relief to the city residents from the problem of traffic jam for a long time, is now in the final stage. Railways has started the work of placing girders on its part of the bridge, due to which the hope of soon completion of the project has increased.

The total length of this ROB, which is being built at a cost of about Rs 1.02 billion, is about 354 meters. This overbridge will provide relief from the daily traffic jam at Pandit Nagla Railway Gate by directly connecting the traffic from Hanuman Murti to Kohinoor Tirahe. Due to safety reasons, the road is being closed from time to time while the girders are being placed, so that the work can be completed safely with the help of heavy cranes and machines.

According to railway officials, the work of girder launching is considered the most technically important stage. Officials of Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation say that most of the pillars of the bridge have already been prepared by the corporation. Now Railways is installing girders on its part. After this, works like super structure, slab construction, railing and street lighting will be done.

At the beginning of the construction work, the pace of the project was affected due to the removal of high tension power lines and cutting of trees coming in the way. After getting the necessary permissions, the work picked up pace, but due to the initial delay, questions have been raised on the stipulated time frame. The government had set a target of starting the construction of this project in August 2024 and completing the bridge by March 2026.

Looking at the current progress, officials say that the work is being done rapidly, but it may take some time for all the technical processes to be completed. Pandit Nagla Railway Gate is the busiest crossing point in the city, with thousands of vehicles passing through it every day. School buses, ambulances and daily commuters have to face a lot of trouble due to long traffic jams when the gates are closed.

Rajneesh Yadav, Chief Project Manager of Setu Nigam, said that the Railways has started the work of placing girders on its part. Efforts are being made to complete the remaining work expeditiously and open the ROB to the general public soon. Instructions have been issued to the contractor to complete the work expeditiously.
