More Sensitive And Highly Sensitive Booths Than Usual, NOTA Is Not An Option In Civic Elections

There will be strong security arrangements at sensitive booths.

State Bureau, Ranchi. In the municipal elections, there are more sensitive and highly sensitive booths than usual, where voting is to be held. Adequate number of security forces will be deployed to conduct completely peaceful and fair elections.

Also, the entire process from nomination process to voting and counting will be videographed. There will be no provision of NOTA in the elections.

One has to vote for some candidate or the other. According to State Election Commissioner Alka Tiwari, a meeting was held on January 8 to prepare for the civic elections.

In which necessary guidelines have been given regarding law and order in the civic elections by holding a meeting with Urban Development and Housing Department, Home Department, Additional Director General of Police-Campaign, all District Election Officers cum Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendent of Police/Superintendent of Police.

Adequate number of security forces are being deputed at polling stations by the Home Department and Additional Director General of Police (Operations). Arrangements for adequate number of security forces will also be made to take the polling centres, counting centers and ballot boxes to Bajgruh.

The state government has been requested to maintain law and order in the state during the elections and to conduct the elections in a peaceful, fair, transparent and clean manner and necessary instructions have been issued to implement all the arrangements properly.

General and expenditure observers will monitor

In order to conduct the civic elections in a fair and smooth session, the Commission is deputing a General Observer for all the constituencies and an Expenditure Observer to monitor the election expenditure of the candidates.

All the observers are being instructed by the Commission through proper briefing for in-depth observation of the process of civic elections.

During the elections, reports will be received from observers from time to time so that the elections can be conducted in a peaceful, fair, transparent and clean manner by keeping the entire election process under close monitoring and control by the Commission.

Officials and employees will also be monitored

The Commission will also keep a close watch on all the officials and employees engaged in election work. The Commission expects that they discharge their duties and responsibilities completely impartially and fearlessly.

If any officer or employee is found guilty of election related misconduct, the Commission will take appropriate action against them without any hesitation.

Voters from weaker sections will get security

According to the Commission, under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989, if any person intimidates the members of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in any way when they participate in the elections, then there is a provision for punitive action against such person.

Guidelines have been given by the Commission in this regard so that it can be ensured that Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe voters can participate in the election process fearlessly. Vulnerability mapping has been done for this.
