Jagran correspondent, Manali. The national level winter carnival has started in the tourist city Manali. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will inaugurate the five-day carnival by performing formal puja of Mata Hidimba on Tuesday. Cultural tableaux will be taken out from Paridhi Griha to Mall Road.
In the tableaus, 18 cultural groups from different states of the country and about three hundred women's groups and self-help groups of Manali Assembly will showcase their skills. Manali Mall Road has been decorated like a bride for the carnival. After offering prayers at the valley's revered goddess Mata Hidimba temple on Tuesday morning, the Chief Minister will give the green signal to the tableaux from Paridhi Griha.
In the afternoon he will inaugurate the five-day long cultural programs in the theatre. Manali MLA Bhuvaneshnar Gaud will be present on this occasion. Women's Mahanati, Winter Queen and Voice of Carnival competitions will be the center of attraction in the carnival. This time the carnival committee has given priority to local artists.
This time local artists will create a blast in the cultural evening. Carnival programs will be organized at both Manurangshala and Mall Road. SDM Manali Raman Kumar Sharma said that preparations for the carnival have been completed. He informed that the audition process of Winter Carnival and Voice of Carnival has been completed.
Due to lack of snow, winter sports will not be organized this year during the Winter Carnival. The harshness of the weather has frustrated winter athletes. Skiing and snowboard competitions were to be organized at the ski slope of Solanganala during the carnival, but due to lack of snow, Sheetalkin would not be able to play. State President of Winter Games Association, Ludar Chand Thakur said that the competition will be organized as soon as snowfall occurs in the coming time.
