Mubarak Ali alias Mubba, the mastermind of a vicious ATM robber gang from Mewat, who is wanted in many states for uprooting ATMs, has been arrested by the Crime Branch. The police were searching for him for a year. The police have already arrested many robbers of this gang.
There are 10 cases registered against him in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, UP and Delhi, in many of which he was declared a fugitive criminal by various courts. Police claim that after the arrest of the mastermind, the entire network of this gang has been destroyed. According to DCP Pankaj Kumar, Mubarak Ali is a resident of Palwal, Haryana. He was wanted in the ATM robbery and Arms Act case registered at Wazirabad police station on February 6. A non-bailable warrant was issued against him in this case.
On February 6, miscreants of its gang had uprooted the ATM of Axis Bank in Wazirabad. The miscreants had first sprayed paint on the CCTV cameras installed inside the ATM room and then uprooted the ATM, put it in the car and ran away. There was more than Rs 29 lakh cash in that ATM.
Seeing the seriousness of the crime, the then Police Commissioner had transferred this case to the Crime Branch to completely destroy the network of this gang. The team inspected the crime scene, collected manual information and employed field sources. Initial information revealed that the criminals were residents of Mewat area of Haryana. After continuous technical surveillance and manual information, on February 9, within three days of the incident, the police team arrested two of the criminals involved in the robbery from Nuh area of Mewat.
Interrogation revealed that the remaining accused are spread in different parts of the country and are working on the instructions of Mubarak Ali. On the basis of interrogation of both of them, other miscreants were arrested and on their information, the looted ATM machine and some part of the looted cash was recovered from a borewell in Nuh.
The mastermind was absconding after the incident and was actively recruiting new criminals to commit similar ATM robberies. After finding out his location in Maharashtra and Rajasthan, the police team went there also but he was not found. Finally, on 26 December, the police team arrested Mubarak Ali from Mewat. Mubarak Ali has expertise in uprooting ATMs. He is a truck driver by profession.
