Muzaffarpur Lift Accident: Old Woman Dies After Falling From 5th Floor, Police Admits Maintenance Was Not Proper

Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. Police have registered a case and started investigation into the death of an old woman on the spot after she fell from the fifth floor while entering the lift in Vijay Inclave Apartment in Khabra area.

During investigation, the police found that due to a technical fault, the door opened after pressing the button, but the lift cabin remained stuck below. The woman entered it and died in the lift corridor itself after falling down.

Police say that the society committee members who maintain and look after the apartment are also at fault. Maintenance work of the lift was done 15 days ago, but it was not improved properly.

The police also examined the CC cameras to investigate the incident. It was seen that after coming from the terrace, the woman pressed the button to open the lift door. The gate opened on this, but the lift did not come up. Seeing this the woman stopped for a few moments. After this, when I pressed the button again the door opened. After this the woman entered directly.

The woman understood that the lift had arrived and she entered directly. He died in the lift corridor itself after falling down. The deceased woman was Punita Devi (60) of Darbhanga Vishunpur. Police say that the woman's son has given a statement. It was said in it that due to the lift door being opened and looking down from a height, she became dizzy and fell down. Due to this he died.

It may be noted that as usual, the woman had gone to the terrace to spread clothes on Tuesday afternoon. She was returning from the terrace with an empty bucket. In this sequence, while boarding the lift, she fell into its hole. He died in this. The woman, DSP Abhijit Alkesh posted in Patna, and his wife used to work in the flat of Kusum Devi, posted as State Tax Assistant Commissioner East in the district.
