Digital Desk, Lucknow. A major step has been taken towards ensuring the cleanliness of major rivers including Ganga and Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, work is being done on a large scale to prevent river pollution by treating waste water. Now the dirty water coming out from the cities of the state will not go into the rivers without treatment. Under Namami Gange Mission Phase-2, sewerage infrastructure has been strengthened on a large scale. Operation of four big sewerage infrastructure projects has been started in the state in the financial year 2025-26.

Under this, two big STPs of 31 MLD and 35 MLD have been started in Agra. This project worth Rs 842 crore will benefit about 25 lakh people. At the same time, 55 MLD STP has been operated in Assi-BHU area of ​​Varanasi. Built at a cost of Rs 308 crore, this project will benefit more than 18 lakh people through sanitation and better waste water management. 5 MLD STP has been started in Shuklaganj (Unnao) with a cost of Rs 65 crore. This will benefit more than 3 lakh people and will effectively stop pollution in Ganga.

Scientific treatment of waste water: Joginder Singh, Project Director of State Clean Ganga Mission, Joginder Singh said that a total of 74 projects of sewer treatment have been approved in the state. Of these, 41 projects have been completed, while work on the remaining projects is going on at a fast pace. With the completion of these projects, the waste water generated in urban areas is being treated scientifically.

Making the sewage environment friendly by purifying it. Currently, there are 152 sewage treatment plants (STP) operating in Uttar Pradesh, which are purifying a large amount of sewage and making it environment friendly before it flows into the rivers. Through these plants, along with the cleanliness of Ganga-Yamuna, public health is also being protected.

The objective of the projects is to ensure the cleanliness of the rivers. The main objective of these projects, run under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is to completely prevent river pollution by treating the waste water reaching the rivers through various drains. With this, the purity of the rivers is being ensured.

Sewer treatment project took place in these districts: Prayagraj (Naini, Phaphamau, Jhunsi), Kannauj, Narora, Garh Mukteshwar, Anupshahr, Kanpur, Bithoor, Ayodhya, Mathura-Vrindavan, Chhata (Mathura), Kosikala (Mathura), Varanasi, Chunar, Firozabad, Moradabad, Kasganj, Etawah, Shuklaganj-Unnao, Sultanpur, Jaunpur, Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, Budana, Lucknow, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Bareilly, Kairana, Farrukhabad, Meerut, Deoband (Saharanpur), Saharanpur, Shamli, Hapur, Gorakhpur, Agra, Gulawati (Bulandshahr), Pandit Deen Dayal Nagar (Mughalsarai-Chandauli), Bhadohi, Ram Nagar, Hathras, Aligarh, Dalmau.
