Samvad Sutra, Daronda (Siwan). Major action is being prepared in the block under the comprehensive verification campaign being run by the government to exclude ineligible beneficiaries from the public distribution system. In this regard, Amulya Nalin said that the names of more than 14 thousand ineligible beneficiaries taking free ration from ration shops in Daraunda block will be removed from the list.

This process has started after linking the ration cards with Aadhaar. In the first phase, action is being taken to identify 8591 suspected beneficiaries and remove them from the list, while in the second phase, investigation of 5719 suspected beneficiaries is going on.

Investigation has revealed that these suspected beneficiaries include government employees, income tax payers, two-wheeler and four-wheeler owners. Among these, there are many people whose monthly income is more than Rs 40 thousand, yet they are taking advantage of free ration under the Food Security Scheme.

The Supply Department matched the data of ration card holders with the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, Transport Department, Income Tax Department and Civil Registration Database. During matching, it was revealed that many beneficiaries are owners of more than two and a half acres of land, four-wheeler owners or income tax payers, who are ineligible to receive ration under the scheme.

Investigation also found that many people got the ration card made by hiding information or giving wrong information while making the ration card and have been availing free ration for years.

The Block Supply Officer has warned the ineligible beneficiaries that they should voluntarily come to the office and surrender their ration cards, otherwise an amount equivalent to the ration taken from them will be recovered from them. The department has now started preparing for strict action against such people.
