Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. Doctors were given training on the use and technique of sub-dermal implants in a family planning program organized by the Department of Women and Obstetrics on 5th and 6th February at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital, Bhagalpur. A total of 12 physicians participated in this training and were taught expert techniques for safe implantation and removal of implants.

State level trainers Dr. Sudha and Dr. Anupama Singh told that sub-dermal implant is a very effective contraceptive method. This method provides protection against unwanted pregnancy for three years and prevents life-threatening complications arising from repeat pregnancies. The training also provided information to the physicians about the benefits of the implant, its safety, and solutions to common problems that may arise during its use.

Dr. Anupama Sinha, Head of the Department of Women and Obstetrics, said that in most women, menstruation starts a few months after delivery, which increases the chances of early pregnancy. In such a situation, implant proves to be a safe and effective option. She also noted that some women may experience mild menstrual discomfort after the implant, which can be treated with regular medications and is much less common than pregnancy-related complications.

Head of the department, instructor doctor, district community catalyst Bharat Kumar Singh and representatives of PSI India were also present in the training session. The objective of the program was to introduce practitioners to modern and safe contraceptive methods and provide them with practical training, so that women can adopt safe and effective family planning options.
