On January 15, Pratapgarh resident lawyer Ratnesh Shukla was beaten at the toll plaza located in Bara of Haidergarh Kotwali over a dispute over paying toll, the video of which was circulated. After this incident, lawyers had protested in the entire state, during the trial and demonstration it was also claimed that no lawyer would file Vakalatnama on behalf of the accused toll workers.
Many accused were arrested in the case and sent to jail, out of which a lawyer registered his advocacy for the bail petition of five of them. On knowing about this, there was anger among the lawyers on Thursday. As soon as he got wind of the WhatsApp group and discussions, the lawyer left his seat.
At around 4 pm on Thursday evening, all the lawyers angrily reached that lawyer's seat and picked up his seat and chair etc. and threw them on the road. The lawyers set the seat and table on fire along with their files, in which all the files were also burnt. The lawyers created an uproar, many people were making video of the incident, which was circulated on the internet.
On receiving the information, Inspector in-charge Kotwali Nagar Sudhir Kumar Singh also reached the premises with the police force, but after some time the matter calmed down on its own.
