The Delhi High Court has issued summons to the children of Priya Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor in the case filed by late industrialist Sanjay Kapoor's mother Rani Kapoor.
Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued summons to the children of late industrialist Sanjay Kapoor's daughter-in-law Priya Kapoor and actress Karisma Kapoor in a lawsuit filed by Sanjay Kapoor's mother Rani Kapoor.
The suit alleges that a fake family trust was created to illegally take possession of the entire property. A bench of Justice Mini Pushkarna directed the defendants to file their written statements in the case within thirty days.
The court also issued notice and adjourned the hearing on Rani Kapoor's application seeking interim relief. During the hearing, when Rani Kapoor's application for interim relief was mentioned, the court said that summons are being issued in this case.
The case will be heard after receiving the replies of the defendants. The court said that this trust was not formed recently. Rani Kapoor's lawyer said that the onus is on the defendants to prove that the trust in question is valid and was created with free consent.
Rani Kapoor alleged that she came to know about the betrayal after her son's death. Sanjay Kapoor died on June 12, 2025. Rani Kapoor has named 23 people as defendants in the case, including Priya Kapoor, her son, Karisma Kapoor's children, her daughter Mandhira Kapoor Smith and her two children.
Rani Kapoor claimed that soon after Sanjay Kapoor's death, her daughter-in-law Priya Kapoor took rapid steps to gain control over key Sona Group companies without her knowledge or consent. This included securing appointments as director and managing director within days of Sanjay Kapoor's funeral.
