Begged to replace dilapidated pillars in Varanasi, SDO rejected money and threatened.
Jagran correspondent, Varanasi. After protesting for replacement of dilapidated pillars in Seer Govardhanpur ward, under the leadership of local SP leader Aman Yadav, people begged and reached the SDO office, where the SDO refused the money and threatened them.
In Seer Govardhanpur Ward 23, dilapidated electric poles have been hanging on people's rooftops for the last two years. In which four pillars can fall any time, due to which a major accident can also occur. After complaining to the electricity department, only assurance was received instead of solution. SP leader Aman Yadav said that despite continuously informing the department for the last one month, the situation remains the same.
Whereas after protesting at the electricity office in Ramnagar, it was assured by SDO Krishna Kumar Gupta that the dilapidated poles would be replaced within 10 days but this did not happen. If action was not taken in time, then instead of replacing the pole, which was completely responsible for any untoward incident, temporary work was done by welding and pouring sand.
When a demand was made to install new pillars, SDO Krishna Kumar Gupta clearly said that the department neither has money nor the pillars are available. Due to which, after collecting donations from shopkeepers and local citizens, an amount of Rs 2000 was given to the SDO office to replace the pillar to protect human life, the remaining amount will also be collected from the public if required.
It is alleged that the SDO rejected this and said in a threatening tone, "Do whatever you want, the pole will not be changed." Aman Yadav said that there is a demand from the administration and government that all the dilapidated electricity poles of Seer Govardhanpur Ward 23 should be replaced immediately and action should be taken against the irresponsible officials, so that such negligence does not happen again in future.
