The air quality in the capital Delhi reached near the severe category.

State Bureau, New Delhi. The air quality in Delhi has reached near the severe category. On Saturday, the air quality index (AQI) in the capital was recorded at 385 i.e. in the very poor category. In many areas, AQI remained above 400 i.e. in severe category. Delhi's air will remain poisonous for the next two-three days.

According to the data of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), on Thursday, AQI was in 234 i.e. poor category, but on Friday it reached 332 (very poor category). It declined further on Saturday.

According to the data of CPCB's Sameer app, out of 40 air quality monitoring centers located in the capital, AQI was recorded above 400 in 14 centres. Anand Vihar was the most polluted. Air quality remained in very poor category at 15 places. Only NSIT Dwarka's AQI remained below 300.

According to the data of Decision Support System (DSS) of IITM-Pune, the maximum pollution in Delhi on Saturday was 16.2 percent due to emissions from vehicles. Emissions from industries in Delhi and surrounding areas were (8.5 percent), residential emissions (4 percent) and emissions from biomass burning (1.6 percent).

There will be fog in the morning, yellow alert issued

On Saturday morning, there was moderate fog in many areas of Delhi and dense fog at some places. There was light fog even at night. Same situation will prevail on Sunday also. The meteorological department has issued a yellow alert. On Saturday, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 22.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.8 degrees above normal.

At the same time, the minimum temperature was 7.8 degrees Celsius, which was slightly below the seasonal average. The relative humidity at 8.30 am was 70 per cent and increased to 100 per cent at 5.30 pm. The minimum temperature is likely to remain below normal for the next two days. After that it may increase.
