Jagran correspondent, Kishanganj. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) interrogated many people for the third day on Sunday regarding the connection with the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI).
In which people of Katihar and Kishanganj districts are included. There is a possibility that people from other districts of Seemanchal will also be called. This inquiry is believed to be related to the former state president of PFI from Kishanganj, Mehboob Alam Nadvi, regarding the Phulwarisharif case in the month of September last year.
A two-member NIA team had reached Kishanganj on Friday. On the first day, Mehfil Alam and Aftab of Kishanganj were interrogated for a long time. On the second day, on Saturday, six people from Kishanganj were interrogated. Whereas on Sunday, apart from Kishanganj, people including Gulzar of Katihar are being called to Sadar police station and questioned.
According to sources, based on the records found in Nadvi's mobile phone and the information received after interrogating him, after about four months, the NIA team has come here and is questioning the people associated with PFI about his activism.
They are being called and asked what kind of relations they had with Nadvi. What was he planning? However, at present the NIA team is refraining from saying anything in this matter.
Action is being taken in Phulwarisharif module case
According to the information, a suspected terrorist module was exposed in Phulwarisharif in the year 2022. Which was earlier being investigated by Bihar Police. Later the National Security Agency started investigating. After investigation, 19 people were arrested in the case.
In which information was received that PFI members were working on a plan to run terrorist training camps, give weapons training to the youth and establish Islamic rule in India through the book India 2047. After the revelation of this module, former state president of PFI Mehboob Alam Nadvi first fled abroad.
After which he came to Kishanganj and started living as a teacher in a private school. The NIA team arrested him from Kishanganj in September 2025. It is noteworthy that the Government of India had banned PFI for five years in September 2022.
The organization is accused of endangering the country's internal security through violent activity, radicalization of youth and foreign funding. Kishanganj is adjacent to the India-Nepal and Bangladesh border. Due to which even after being banned, NIA is trying to completely end the activities of this organization.
