School Education Department's reply in the Assembly, status of vacant posts clear.
Surendra Singh, Jammu. There has been no direct recruitment of teachers in Jammu and Kashmir since 2019. This information was given by the School Education Department in response to a question asked in the Assembly. In the question, clarification was sought from the government on the alleged ban on recruitment after the year 2014, the current status of vacant posts and issues related to upgrading of schools.
The government in its reply said that the last recruitment of teachers in General Line, Science, Mathematics and Urdu subjects was completed in the year 2019 through the Service Selection Board (SSB). After this, no new appointment has been made under the direct recruitment quota. The department clarified that the posts where teachers who were earlier working as RET were designated as Teacher Grade-Three, were reduced by adjusting them from the direct recruitment quota.
Regarding the vacant posts of teachers in Jammu division, the government said that at present there are no vacant posts here. The vacancies under the promotion quota are being filled through the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC). Regarding the upgradation of schools, the department said that at present there is no immediate proposal for large-scale upgradation from primary to secondary or higher secondary level.
Approval of Finance Department is mandatory
Many schools have been upgraded over the years and the priority now is to strengthen the infrastructure and ensure availability of staff. The department said the upgrade process involves financial requirements like construction of buildings, additional classrooms, laboratories and creation of new posts, for which approval of the Finance Department is mandatory.
In the context of Rajouri district, the government said that 594 posts of lecturers in 27 subjects will be filled through SSB, while the recruitment process is also going on through promotion quota. To improve the educational quality, the Department has taken initiatives like online teaching, active participation of Cluster Resource Centre, deployment of subject-specific teachers, need based posting and regular online and offline inspection.
The government claims that these steps will achieve the goal of improving educational results and ensuring 100 percent staff availability in schools.
