There is a race in the cities across the country to come on top in the cleanliness survey, but people are expecting the ranking of the city to improve only by relying on the leaders, officials and the system, whereas the participation of every person is very important in this. Bareilly Mayor Dr. Umesh Gautam said these things in the GIC auditorium on Saturday.

Addressing the divisional level training workshop organized to sensitize all the municipalities, Nagar Panchayat officials, councilors, councilors and general public of Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Badaun, Pilibhit districts, the Mayor said that earlier cleanliness was limited to homes, which is now expanding to cities but awareness is still needed.

Everyone's participation in cleanliness is necessary

When people see in newspapers and television the names of other cities which are at the top in cleanliness ranking, then they blame the officers and leaders of their area for not making any efforts. Whereas everyone's participation is necessary in this. The cleanliness program is not just a government one.

It is necessary to separate wet and dry waste. Medical waste should be specifically separated. There is a need to dispose of medical waste in hospitals as well as homes. If medical waste is going in the household garbage then it is also spreading diseases. It is everyone's responsibility to keep the city clean.

Cleanliness education being given to children in school

If there is cleanliness then there will be no disease. If there is no illness, there will be progress in the house. Emphasized on paying special attention to cleanliness in schools. Said that in other countries, nursery children are being taught cleanliness in the school itself, here we have to pay attention to this in the school. The Prime Minister has inspired to celebrate the birthday of our city.

Don't just keep the learning in the workshop here, assimilate it as well. Bareilly division has to be taken to the top in cleanliness. Municipal Commissioner Shahjahanpur Dr. Vipin Mishra said that the general public will have to be aware about the medical waste generated during treatment after reaching home after being discharged from the hospital.

Concrete efforts are being made for garbage collection

The city will be clean only with the cooperation of the common people, for this everyone will have to work together. Municipal Commissioner Bareilly Sanjeev Kumar Maurya said that concrete efforts are being made at the corporation level to ensure that garbage collection is regular and on time. The common people have to be made aware that they should love their city like their home and inspire others along with themselves for cleanliness.

During this, experts gave detailed information about the parameters like Garbage Free City (GFC), ODF, Water Plus etc. for excellent performance in Swachh Survekshan 2025-26. Also, emphasis was laid on door-to-door garbage collection, strengthening source segregation, making solid waste management and used water management effective, overall welfare of sanitation workers and institutional strengthening and strengthening citizen participation and grievance redressal mechanism.
