Jagran correspondent, Bhubaneswar. There has been a big achievement for Odisha in the field of mineral wealth. Gold mines have been identified at three places in the state. Mines Minister Vibhuti Bhushan Jena said on Thursday that these mines are located in Deogarh, Kendujhar and Ghazipur. According to preliminary assessment, there is a possibility of reserves of about 1,586 kg of gold in these mines.
The Mines Minister said that a high level meeting has been called on January 3 to decide the further action plan in this regard. The process of further exploration and auction of gold blocks will be discussed in detail in the meeting. The minister said that the presence of gold has been confirmed in Deogarh, Kendujhar and Ghazipur. It is estimated that there is 1,586 kg of gold here. The outline for the auction of gold blocks will be decided after further in-depth survey.
Apart from gold, Odisha has large reserves of minerals like iron ore, bauxite, manganese, limestone, dolomite, graphite, copper, nickel, silver, titanium, vanadium, tin and rare earth elements (REEs). Graphite blocks have been identified in Kalahandi, Rayagada, Balangir, Nayagarh and Deogarh districts of the state.
The major blocks are Lamer-Panga, Naringpanga, Rengali and Tamia. Many of these blocks are in G2 and G3 levels of exploration, pointing to larger mining opportunities in the future. Experts believe that the development of these gold and other mineral reserves will not only strengthen the economy of the state but will also create new employment opportunities.
