In a land dispute, son and grandson crushed an elderly woman to death with a pickup.

An elderly woman was allegedly crushed to death by her son and grandson with a car over a land dispute in Singada village of Panikoili police station area of Jajpur district on Thursday. This is a heartbreaking incident. The deceased has been identified as 80-year-old Julie Sahu. According to Julie's daughter Anita Sahu, she has three more siblings – two sisters and a brother.
However, since she was caring for her elderly parents, her father legally gave her ownership of his entire land. Protesting against his father's decision, Anita's brother Narayan Sahu quarrels with him, following which an old dispute over land continues in the family. A case has also been registered in the local police station.
Moreover, the matter is pending in the court. Talking to media persons, Anita told that on Thursday she was going to the local police station with her mother (Julie) as the police had called them for questioning in connection with the land dispute.
He alleged that during this time, Narayan's elder son Karthik Sahu came in a pick-up van and crushed Julie to death. Later, a team of policemen from Panikoili police station reached the spot and started investigating the case.
Anita also claimed that Narayan Sahu, who was not ready to vacate the ancestral home, had threatened to kill her. They demanded the arrest of Narayan Sahu, his elder son Kartik Sahu and younger son Ramesh Sahu, as well as key conspirator Gopinath Mahapatra and his brother-in-law Landa Mahapatra.
