One More Arrested In The Case Of Recovery Of Foreign Liquor Worth Rs 10 Crore In Gurugram, Deported From Bali

Vinay Trivedi, Gurugram. The police have also arrested the contract partner in connection with the recovery of illegal foreign liquor worth Rs 10 crore on December 9 from The Theka Wine Shop located near Signature Tower, Gurugram. SIT caught him from Delhi airport on Monday night.

This accused was identified as Sugriv Vishnoi, a resident of Fatehabad. It was deported from Bali, Indonesia. The police team arrested him as soon as he reached Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is said that he had absconded as soon as he got wind of the raid on the contract.

Gurugram Police, with the help of agencies, had issued a lookout circular against the accused on December 16. After this it was deported from Indonesia. Earlier, the police had arrested contract owner Ankush Goyal, resident of Narnail, manager Ajay Kumar and a canter driver in this case.

Information about Sugriva was obtained during the interrogation of Ankush Goyal. During interrogation of Ankush Goyal, it was revealed that the wine shop had a total of three owners including him. It has 25 percent share in the contract. The foreign and imported liquor recovered from the wine shop was kept for sale under contract through him and other associates. The license of this contract is in the name of Surendra.

Excise department took action on December 9

On the night of December 9, the Excise Department team raided a liquor vend named The Theka near Signature Tower Chowk and busted the evasion of excise duty worth about Rs 90 lakh.

A total of 47,220 bottles of foreign liquor were recovered during the raid from the shop. The liquor bottles which were recovered did not have holograms and track-trace strips on them. In the case, the Police Commissioner has constituted SIT under the leadership of ACP East Amit Bhatia.
