State Bureau, Jagran, Dehradun. Now people are going to get relief from the rice crisis in Uttarakhand under the Public Distribution System. The Food Civil Supplies Department has placed an order for the supply of about 2.5 lakh tonnes of rice for the month of January to the company, due to which the ration distribution will become normal in all the districts of the state from the new year.
For the past few months, the problem of shortage of rice was coming to the fore in many areas, especially in the hilly districts. Due to change in the system, rice was not reaching the ration depot on time, due to which consumers were facing problems. Now the government has given orders to the vendors to restore the supply system.
From the new year, the structure of ration distribution under the State Food Scheme is also being changed. Now the beneficiaries will get five kilos of wheat and two and a half kilos of rice per unit, whereas earlier seven and a half kilos of rice was being given.
Inclusion of wheat in the ration will reduce dependence on rice and will also reduce the demand, which will reduce the possibility of recurrence of rice crisis in future. According to PS Pangati, Additional Commissioner of Food and Civil Supplies Department, after the order for rice issued, supply will be ensured in all the 13 districts of the state.

Special transportation arrangements are being made for the plains as well as inaccessible and remote hilly areas, so that ration distribution is not affected in any district. He says that the new system will not only ensure the availability of rice, but will also provide balanced grains to the consumers. From the new year, the uncertainty regarding ration distribution in the state will end and the beneficiaries will be able to get the fixed quantity of food grains on time.
