Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar has emphasized on developing the ancestral village of Gumla-based martyr Lance Naik Albert Ekka, awarded with Param Vir Chakra, as an ideal village. He has talked about visiting there as soon as possible. The 17th Management Committee meeting of Sainik Welfare Directorate was held at Lok Bhawan on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Governor, in which the Governor gave instructions for necessary action in this regard. He also directed to develop Jharkhand War Memorial located at Deepatoli, Ranchi as a major tourist destination.

The Governor said in the meeting that protecting the interests of ex-servicemen and dependents of martyrs is a top priority and issues related to their welfare should be handled with sensitivity in every situation. He said that he is always available for the interest of the state and if anyone has any suggestion related to the interest of the state, he can approach him anytime.

He also said that he wants to establish a unique and inspiring identity of this area. Union Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth also comes from here and can inform him about any good schemes. In the meeting, there was also an in-depth discussion on opening another Sainik School in the state. A proposal was made by the Directorate of Sainik Welfare to open Sainik School in Godda.

Apart from this, the increase in the amount of assistance given to the dependents of martyrs who made supreme sacrifice in defense of the country was also discussed. It was mentioned in the meeting that Sainik Market was constructed about four decades ago and Sainik Theater is also located there. Information was given regarding the work being done with the help of JUDCO for the reconstruction and development of these complexes.

Along with this, it was also discussed to make ESM Corporation Fund more effective in Jharkhand by studying the models of other states. Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor Dr. Nitin Kulkarni, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Vandana Dadel, Finance Secretary Prashant Kumar, GOC 23 Infantry Division Major General Sajjan Singh Mann along with senior military officers and officials of the Directorate were present in the meeting.

Fire warriors returning from service get opportunities in police and other security services

In the meeting, the Governor said that a proper assessment should be made as to how many firefighters of the state have returned from service. He directed that the possibilities of providing opportunities to these firefighters in other security and service sectors including the state police force should be seriously considered. It was also directed that when soldiers come to the state on leave and some of their personal or administrative work is pending, prompt disposal of such cases should be ensured.

Interest in military service in tribal community, special training centers opened

It was also said in the meeting that there is special interest towards military service in the tribal communities of Jharkhand. In this direction, consideration should be given to opening a dedicated training center for tribal youth, so that they can get better opportunities in military services.
