Jagran correspondent, Patiala. The seven accused arrested in the cyber fraud case against former Punjab Police IG Amar Singh Chahal were presented in the court. The court has sent all these people on police remand till January 8.
The team is currently interrogating the accused Chandrakant, Lakhan Shri Chand, Somnath, Ranjit Nambardar, Prateek Uttam, Ashish Kumar, and Mohammad Hasri, who are on remand. Apart from the SIM cards and mobile phones recovered from these accused, other accomplices will be interrogated because this network of fraud is connected to foreign countries.
IG did not get leave from hospital
Former IG Amar Singh Chahal was defrauded of Rs 8 crore 10 lakh. Troubled by this, Chahal tried to commit suicide by shooting himself, but his life was saved due to timely treatment.
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Patiala Police immediately registered a case in the cyber cell and started investigation. So far in the investigation, out of Rs 8 crore, about Rs 3 crore have been frozen in various accounts. After investigating the case, Patiala Police arrested seven people from Maharashtra.
On the other hand, the police has not yet recorded the statement of the retired IG who is undergoing treatment. It is expected that the statement of the retired IG will be recorded only after his discharge from the hospital.
