Jagran correspondent, Patna. The permanent vending zone located in Kadamkuan, which is one of the busiest and major business areas of the capital, is now going to get a new identity. Here a plan has been prepared to develop a pink market on the first floor. The proposal has been sent to the concerned department and a meeting will be held soon to decide on it.
Ward 38 councilor Ashish Kumar Sinha said that currently about 100 fruit and vegetable shops are operating on the ground floor of the vending zone. However, the fruit and vegetable shopkeepers did not show interest in taking up shop on the first floor. Due to this the first floor has been lying vacant for a long time.
Keeping this in mind, it has been proposed to develop the first floor as a pink market. In this Pink Market, shops selling cosmetics, household items, handicrafts, cosmetics, apparel and other essential items related to women will be opened.
The special thing is that it is proposed to allot these shops only to women, so that they can get the opportunity of self-employment and economic empowerment. As soon as the proposal is approved in the upcoming meeting and the funds are allocated, the process of operating the Pink Market will be started.
Under this, provision will also be made for shop structure, security, cleanliness and basic facilities. With the opening of Pink Market, not only will women get employment, but new shopping options will also be available in Kadamkuan area.
Local people believe that the Pink Market will increase economic activities in the area. Women will get the opportunity to do business in a safe and respectful environment. If the scheme is successful then in future it can be implemented in other vending zones of the capital also.
Let us tell you that Rs 1,000 per month is being charged from the shopkeepers running fruit and vegetable shops on the ground floor of the vending zone. In this, they are also being provided electricity facility.
