Digital Desk, Bhopal. MRI services operated on PPP mode in government hospitals of Madhya Pradesh are facing financial crisis. Ayushman Bharat and the private agency providing free check-up to BPL category patients have decided to stop services from Monday due to non-payment of dues. The agency claims that payment of about Rs 2 crore is pending for big cities including Bhopal, Indore and Gwalior.
50 lakh stuck in Bhopal
The agency running the MRI center in Jaypee Hospital, Bhopal has not received the amount of Ayushman scheme for the last one year. Payment of about Rs 50 lakh is said to be pending in Bhopal district alone. Agency operators say that despite several correspondence and reminders, the budget has not been released, due to which there are serious problems in the maintenance of machines and payment of salaries to employees.
Same situation in Indore-Gwalior also
The situation is said to be similar in the district hospitals of Indore and Gwalior. Agencies operating in other districts are also considering stopping work in case of non-payment.
Financial burden will increase on patients
In case of closure of services, Ayushman card holders and BPL patients who come for MRI every day may have to spend Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000 in private diagnostic centres. There is also a fear of delay in operation and treatment of serious patients, because MRI report is mandatory in many cases.
