A meeting of the District Level Peace Committee was organized in New Town Hall today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate Aditya Ranjan regarding Holi festival. In the meeting, emphasis was laid on celebrating peaceful Holi and maintaining harmony.
The Deputy Commissioner said that in order to maintain peace and order during the Holi festival, it is mandatory for the candidates who win the municipal elections to take permission from the sub-divisional office to take out the victory procession. Apart from this, the district administration has also ordered to remove flags, banners, posters etc. of the candidates put up in the city regarding the elections.
The Deputy Commissioner said that like the municipal elections, extensive security arrangements have been made by the district administration to conduct the Holi festival in a peaceful and harmonious environment. Flag march will also be taken out in the district. The Deputy Commissioner also said that efforts will be made to solve the problems that came to light in the Peace Committee meeting.
Hoodlums will not be spared: SSP Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said that hoodlums will not be spared under any circumstances to maintain peace during the festival. He requested the residents of the district to provide information about such people to the police.
Senior Superintendent of Police said that the police will be ready 24 hours regarding Holika Dahan and Holi festival. He claimed that like other festivals and municipal elections, Holi festival will also be held in a peaceful and harmonious environment.
