State Bureau, Jammu. With a view to ensure smooth and spiritually satisfying journey of the devotees during Shri Baba Amarnath Yatra 2026, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir Anshul Garg reviewed the arrangements of the base camps located on the route leading to the holy cave in a high level meeting on Saturday.
During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner issued many necessary instructions to various departments regarding the preparations for the upcoming annual yatra. He stressed on strengthening the facilities for the devotees by making best use of the funds already released.
All departments were instructed to submit a detailed action plan for the Yatra, issue tenders before time, complete the work within the stipulated time limit and prepare cost estimates.
Emphasizing that the Tourism Department should play the role of nodal agency for travel, he asked to ensure coordination and accountability among the concerned departments. Instructions were given to deploy additional staff at RFID registration counters to facilitate the registration of pilgrims.
Animal Husbandry and Labor departments were asked to work in a coordinated manner in RFDI tagging of service providers and horses. Beacon was instructed to install crash barriers on Pahalgam-Chandanwadi road and Baltal route and build shelter sheds for security forces. The meeting also reviewed the operationalization of the control room and dissemination of disaster mitigation plans among various agencies.
To increase the capacity of the camps, install headcount cameras at designated parking spots and ensure smooth movement of SRTC buses during the journey, the police department was asked to ensure smooth evacuation of the buses after deboarding the passengers.
The Divisional Commissioner also reviewed the progress of the work being done by Roads and Buildings, PHE and KPDCL and stressed on strictly adhering to the timelines. The arrangements for supply of essential commodities including ration and firewood in the Yatra camps were also reviewed.
In the meeting, special attention was paid to cleanliness arrangements at camps and routes, deployment of fire vehicles at strategic locations, installation of sign boards and display screens and expanding network coverage in shadow areas by telecom agencies.
The meeting reiterated the commitment of the administration towards advance planning, inter-departmental coordination and strengthening of services, so that the pilgrimage is conducted in a safe, smooth and well-organized manner during the Yatra.
