Jagran correspondent, Patna. Prince Kumar alias Abhijeet Kumar, killed in a police encounter in Vaishali, had escaped after dodging the police late on the night of September 2, 2024.
He was then sent to PMCH along with six other detainees for treatment at the Model Kara Beur, where he had conspired to take the policemen out for a mutton party. In a private vehicle outside the PMCH premises, he had gone with the police to a hotel or room to have dinner.
After eating food, he ran away with his companions present outside. A constable and a constable were arrested in this case. Including both, eight policemen were suspended.
Four out of six prisoners returned to jail, Prince was stopped
Six prisoners from Beur jail were brought to PMCH for treatment. After treatment he was declared healthy by the doctor. On the same day, four prisoners were sent to Beur jail in a prisoner vehicle. Whereas for medical examination of Prince and Omkar alias Sheru Singh, two policemen stopped with them near Hathua ward of PMCH.

The same night at 11.30 pm, both the policemen and the two prisoners left the PMCH premises in separate private vehicles to have dinner. The policemen had gone to have dinner in the hotel or room suggested by both the prisoners.
Meanwhile, Prince Kumar escaped as planned by dodging the policemen. The next day, on September 3, 2024, Sheru was sent back to Beur jail. When the search and investigation of the absconding prince started.
Prince was not sent to jail after recovery
After Prince's escape, the Maulud policemen accompanying him informed about this the next day. Investigation revealed that the doctor had declared Prince along with other prisoners to be healthy.
Prince and his other prisoner Sheru were also to be sent to Beur jail along with other prisoners on the same day, but the two policemen told them to keep them in the PMCH premises for 24 hours.
Due to this, the role of both the policemen came under doubt. An FIR was registered against those two policemen and the Prince in Pirbahore police station, in which both the policemen and others were accused that due to their collusion and negligence, the Prince had managed to escape from the police custody.
Prince had fled from Patna and reached Motihari
After absconding from PMCH, the police had seen the CCTV footage. Some suspects were seen around him in the footage. After escaping from there, he reached a private hospital in Kadamkuan. When the police reached there to raid, no clue was found.
If sources are to be believed, he had fled from Patna to Motihari in a car. Since then he was continuously planning to loot the gold. He had many hiding places in Nepal also. Along with Bihar STF, police from many other districts and other states were also busy searching for him.
