Proceedings Of The Third Day Of Delhi Assembly Marred By Uproar, BJP MLA Adamant On Demanding Apology Of Atishi

State Bureau, New Delhi. The proceedings of the third day of the winter session of Delhi Assembly on Wednesday were also marred by uproar. There was neither Question Hour nor could the MLAs raise their issues under special mention (Rule No. 280). In fact, BJP MLAs created a ruckus by accusing opposition leader Atishi of insulting Sikh Gurus. The MLA remained adamant on the demand for Atishi's apology. Due to this, the proceedings of the House had to be adjourned for half an hour and then till the next day.

As soon as the assembly session began on Wednesday, ministers and BJP MLAs accused Atishi of insulting Guru Teg Bahadur. He said that Atishi has said objectionable words and he cannot be forgiven for this.

Due to the uproar, Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta adjourned the proceedings of the House for some time. After 30 minutes, when the House proceedings started again, the MLAs came into the well and started creating ruckus. Then the proceedings of the House were adjourned till Thursday morning.

The Assembly Speaker said that Atishi could not be contacted. The AAP MLA told him that Atishi had gone to Goa. After the session was adjourned, BJP MLAs demonstrated in the premises and raised slogans against Atishi. On the other hand, Delhi government ministers Pravesh Verma, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravindra Indraj and Kapil Mishra gave a written complaint to the Assembly Speaker on this issue and demanded action against Atishi.

Pravesh Verma said that on Tuesday the martyrdom of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was being discussed. Opposition leader Atishi did not participate in it and used abusive language. This is highly condemnable and strict action should be taken against them.

Sirsa said that the language used by Leader of Opposition Atishi inside the House during the special discussion under Rule 270 on the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji is extremely indecent, shameful and completely contrary to parliamentary decorum.

That is why in the written complaint given to the Speaker, three clear demands have been made - Atishi's membership should be canceled immediately, a criminal case should be registered against him and the Speaker should also take punitive action using his constitutional powers.
