Mayor Harikant Ahluwalia, District Magistrate Dr. VK Singh and Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Gangwar and other officials in the meeting of the Infrastructure Development Fund Committee held at Vikas Bhawan Auditorium.
Jagran correspondent, Meerut. Among the development works proposed from the Infrastructure Development Fund, most emphasis has been given on improving the street lighting system of the city. A system for automatic switching on and off of lights will be developed.
Victoria lights will be installed on main roads and high mast lights will be installed at intersections and public places. Hydraulic elevators will be purchased to fix the lights. Western Kachhari Road from Eves intersection (Madhav Chowk) to Ambedkar Chowk will be built with white topping technology.
Four roads have already been built using this technology. Making roads using fiber in concrete reduces the chances of cracking due to waterlogging. Similarly, proposals for development works worth about Rs 56 crore have been approved. On Monday night, a meeting of the Infrastructure Development Fund was held at Vikas Bhawan under the chairmanship of Mayor Harikant Ahluwalia and in the presence of DM Dr. VK Singh and Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Gangwar, PWD, Meerut Development Authority officials. In which 14 proposals worth Rs 56 crore were placed.
Which was approved after brainstorming. Two additional tasks were added. In which instructions have been given to make a proposal to develop dividers, floral arrangements and green belt in the middle of the road going from Commissionerate Office to Circuit House via Ambedkar Square and to develop green belt on the footpath and middle divider on both sides from Saket Imli intersection to Commissionerate Office intersection. After making the proposal, it has been asked to submit an assessment report of its expenditure.

The face of seven intersections will change
In the meeting of the Infrastructure Development Fund Committee, Begalpul which is now Bharat Mata Chowk. Along with its beautification, Mawana Road, Ganganagar Tiraha, Ambedkar Square, Kachari Road, Medical Gate Tiraha and Hans Square will also be beautified.
Beautification of Bharat Mata Chowk alone will cost Rs 6 crore. In the meeting, it was asked to prepare the design for these works after detailed testing and survey after taking expert opinion. These proposals were accepted.
