State Bureau, Shimla. Protest has started in Himachal Pradesh against conducting examination for selection of teachers for CBSE affiliated government schools. Under the chairmanship of State President of Himachal Government Teachers Association, Virendra Chauhan, a delegation of three teacher organizations met Education Minister Rohit Thakur at the Secretariat. Many officials including State President of Principals Association Hari Sharma and State President of Chief Teachers Principal Cadre Officers Association Ratan Verma were present in the delegation.
Already working teachers should get a chance
The union has welcomed the decision to implement CBSE curriculum in government schools. The officials said that no examination or test should be taken to check the efficiency of teachers who are eligible for appointment in CBSE schools and have been serving for a long time. Teachers who are already working in these schools should be given at least one year's time, so that their performance can be evaluated on the basis of board examination results.
Assessment should be based only on results
The efficiency of principals and teachers should be assessed only on the basis of results. All vacant posts should be filled. The facility of transfer of teachers between CBSE and Himachal Board should be continued as per their wish. There should be no unnecessary merger of boys and girls schools. Rather, one school should be strengthened under CBSE and the other under Himachal Board.
There should be no change in fee structure
To ensure that the promotion process of principals and teachers is not affected, a post of nominated vice-principal should be created as per CBSE standards. There should not be any increase in the fee structure of CBSE and Himachal Board. Teachers union will not accept any kind of privatization in the education department.
